We evaluate each vacuum's cleaning performance on three surfaces: tall carpet, short carpet, and bare floors.
For carpet testing we prepare a 100-gram mixture of sands of different grain sizes—from coarse granules to talcum powder—and spread the mixture out evenly onto each carpet then impact it with a roller.
Expect your Dynamic U1 to pick up 18% of the dirt from tall carpets per pass, which is better than average. From our shorter carpet the U1 removed 80% of the dirt per pass, which is significantly better than average.
In addition to dirt, we also test pet hair pickup by laying out cubic-inch tufts of cat and dog hair on each of the carpets. On average, the Twist picked up 83% of the hair from both surfaces.
To test bare floor performance we leave out 40 pieces of uncooked rice and 20 pieces of uncooked macaroni on a simulated kitchen floor. In a single pass, this model left our test area nearly spotless.
